Award winning producer and DJ Don Cannon was appointed as the new VP of A&R over at Def Jam Recordings today. He will be overseeing new projects and scouting new talent for the label as well. He will be based in Atlanta and will be working closely with Karen Kwak, Executive Vice President/Head of A&R and Steve Bartels, President & COO of Island Def Jam Music Group.
He’s work alongside Jay-Z, Kendrick Lamar, Lil Wayne, T.I. and much more. He will now bring his talents over to Def Jam to continue to build their musical empire. He stated that:
“A music person can only dream about being at Def Jam, the most important hip-hop destination in the world,” said Mr. Cannon. “I feel I have a cutting edge vision for where the culture and hip-hop are heading and I’m excited to be joining the team. I’m already working 24/7 to drive the innovation of music forward and I’m confident we’ll land some big successes in the very near future.”
