Lil Wayne’s former friend and mentor, Birdman, is a suspect behind the tour bus shooting Wayne was involved in a few months back.
Birdman’s newest protegé Young Thug was also named in the indictment, and both of their affiliations to the Bloods gang.
The feud between former friends Lil Wayne and Birdman continues to get worse. What happened to the good ole days.
An indictment filed in June in Cobb County, Georgia reportedly names both Birdman and Young Thug as being involved in a conspiracy to kill Lil Wayne when his tour bus was shot up back in April. Both men were named alongside the original suspect, Young Thug affiliate Jimmy Winfrey. The indictment also says all three men are members of the Bloods gang.
The indictment alleges that Lil Wayne’s contract dispute with Birdman over monies owed and the delayed release of Wayne’s ‘Carter V’ is behind the conflict. Young Thug’s original decision to name his album ‘Carter 6′ and Weezy’s subsequent lawsuit is also named as being a reason.
“(Young Thug) released the next album in the Carter series but changed the name to “Barter VI” by changing the ‘C’ to a ‘B,'” the indictment says.
According to the indictment, Young Thug made a threat against Lil Wayne and Winfrey carried out the threat.
“After Atlanta Police discontinued their escort, (Winfrey) and fellow Blood Gang members entered Interstate 285 from Atlanta Road in Cobb County in pursuit of the buses occupied by (Lil Wayne’s) group,” the indictment says. “(That’s when) the white sports car pulled beside the buses, shots were then fired into the buses from the sports car with a .40 caliber handgun and a 9mm handgun.”
It should be noted that Birdman and Young Thug aren’t charged in the indictment, only named as having worked with Winfrey.
