Soul singer Kehlani made media headlines following her suicide attempt earlier this year after her love triangle had gone public on social media, courtesy of Drake’s artist PartyNextDoor.
The singer, who credits online bullying and slutshaming as the reason for her suicide attempt, was yet again bullied while performing live on stage over the weekend.
While performing at a festival in Texas over the weekend, Kehlani was interrupted was by grown men chanting “Kyrie! Kyrie! Kyrie!”, like a bunch of elementary school kids. Like a trooper, the once-suicidal star remained unbothered and sang her little heart out.
However, like a trooper, the once-suicidal star remained unbothered and sang her heart out to the remaining supportive fans in the crowd.
Video surfaced of singer #Kehlani being #slutshamed while performing on stage. A group of trolls can be heard chanting #KyrieIrving name during her performance. Don’t find this funny at all. It’s 2016 and there’s nothing but grown folk in that crowd acting like a bunch of 5th graders. This #slutshaming stuff has gone too far. Smh 😔 #StopBullying
It had been a month and a half since she attempted to take her own life. But during a performance she held shortly after the incident, Kehlani stopped her Austin show to speak out against suicide spread across the net.
“Tell somebody. And please don’t try it, don’t do it,” she told the supportive audience, before relating her own story. “It wasn’t a first time thing. And that’s not ok.”
