Trayvon Martin’s older brother Jahvaris Fulton has just landed an amazing opportunity.
According to NBC News, the Florida International University student has landed an internship with Florida Representative Frederica Wilson at her office in Miami Gardens.
According to Wilson’s office, the 22-year-old is a part of the 5000 Role Models of Excellence Project, a program the Democratic congresswoman created 20 years ago to provide mentoring to at-risk boys in the Miami area.
Jahvaris’ younger brother was shot and killed by neighborhood watch caption George Zimmerman in February 2012. Zimmerman claimed self-defense and was recently acquitted of second-degree murder charges.
This is an amazing opportunity for Jahvaris, and we know he’ll give his all in the project. The great opportunities being offered to him, and Rachel Jeantel who was just offered a full college scholarship, are a true blessing, and though it comes at the hands of an unfortunate event, it’s good to see that some things are still working in their favor.
