Each day I see over 100 different ads of “special” tools to help women lose weight fast. It is very unsettling that companies use our desire for “quick fixes” to maximize their profits at the expense of our ignorance. Before people ask me, HOW I’ve lost the weight, they want to know HOW LONG did it take me. Before I answer their question, I preface my response by explaining that every person has a different body type and their journey is unique to their needs. However noone seems to be interested in that.
The truth is that we do not put on the weight over night, it is the product of poor eating behaviors over a course of years. Therefore the expectation that you can lose all the weight in a fourth of the take it took you gain it is unrealistic. You should give yourself atleast a year to learn transition to a healthier lifestyle, and lose the weight. You might be able to lose the weight right away, but in order to keep it off you have to change your life.
Here are 5 awesome celebrities whom not only have experienced major weight-loss but have managed to keep the pounds off by transitioning to a healthier lifestyle!
Number 1: JILL SCOTT
Well DAMN Jill Scott!! After losing over 63 pounds. She recently opened up about her weight-loss secrets saying her diverse exercise routine, which includes boxing and biking has made the journey worthwhile. “We have fun!” she told Us Weekly referring to her workouts with her trainer (Essence Magazine).
Although the soulful singer is happy about her weight loss, she still embraces her curves, a feature that is often praised by her fans. “I’ll never be a stick figure,” Jill added.
Number 2: Mo’Nique
According ABC News,
The actress has lost more than 80 pounds over the past few years and is keeping off the weight. She hasn’t been shy about it either — posting pictures of her fitness routine on Twitter to inspire others.
“I had to do it for husband and my children and get out of my own way,” she told TV One recently. “Those moments when you feel like you can’t go any further and you can!”
Number 3: Jennifer Hudson
Four days after she gave birth to her son in August 2009, Jennifer Hudson decided to get serious about getting healthy. She realized that she wanted to be healthier for her son — to be a more active mom and to make sure she had healthy habits that her son could copy as he grew up. But she knew that diets hadn’t been working for her, so she wasn’t sure how to start (Huffington Post).
She found her motivation in her desire to be the best possible mom for her son. “Your baby’s going to eat what you’re going to eat,” she said. Not only did she lose the weight, she’s kept it off for the three years since. “It’s just as hard to maintain it as it is to lose weight,” she said. She wrote a book about her weight loss venture, titled I Got This and is no longer a spokesperson for the weight watchers
Number 4: Raven Symone
“I stopped stressing. You have to realize at 15, there was a whole entire show I had on my shoulders. It was a very big cast and crew and if you’re sick for a day, people lose money and that’s a problem.
It wasn’t just over eating because I’ve actually been eating the same. I keep a little bit more smaller portions because I learned that your body has to get rid of that stress some way. Some people break-out, some people lose their hair, some lose weight, some people gain weight, my body just reacted a certain kind of way (RavenS.).”
“I find it funny that people now come up to me and say, ‘Wow, you are absolutely gorgeous. I’m like, ‘I was beautiful before I lost weight. Egotistically speaking, I thought I was amazing (inquisitr).’”
