Taxstone Arrested in Connection to Deadly Troy Ave Shooting At TI Concert

Hip hop podcaster Taxstone has been arrested for his connection to the deadly shooting at a T.I. concert in May of last year.

The Brooklyn native, born Daryl Campbell, was arrested over his involvement with last year’s shooting at Irving Plaza that injured local rapper Troy Ave and left his bodyguard dead, sources said Monday.

Taxstone was arrested in Texas in connection with the May 25th shooting, that put Troy Ave in jail for charges he is currently fighting in court.

Taxstone is well known in the hip hop community for his Tax Season podcast where he’s interviewed rappers Jay Z and Meek Mill, among others. Additional details on his arrest have not been released.

Brooklyn rapper Troy Ave lost his friend and bodyguard, 33-year-old Ronald McPhatter after deadly shots rang out in Irving Plaza’s V.I.P. area before T.I. was set to perform last May. Two other men, and a woman were also injured in the shooting.

Troy Ave was arrested following the shooting that included video of a wounded Ave coming out of the VIP area while shooting his gun at target out of the camera’s view.

Troy Ave was charged with attempted murder and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon for his alleged involvement.  But officials in August said an additional shooter who is suspected of injuring the rapper and killing his bodyguard was still being sought.

Troy Ave, born Roland Collins, was released on $500,000 bond in July, and is currently awaiting trial for those charges following a recent attack on Christmas that almost took the young rapper’s life.

The rapper’s lawyer announced that Ave is suing Irving Plaza for poor security after allowing a gun to get inside the venue.
