African Americans currently battle shockingly high rates of unemployment and incarceration, in addition to a wealth gap that defies belief.

Much of this gap is not due to financial mismanagement, but because of the systematic theft of black wealth that has occurred in this country over the last 400 years.

One of the most egregious human rights violations of the last century occurred during the Black Wall Street Massacre in Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1921.

During this time, the most affluent black community in America was burned to the ground and stripped of its wealth as thousands were killed, jailed, hospitalized and displaced by angry racist mobs. Over 1,200 residences were destroyed during the riot, and there was no compensation to the victims of this horrendous tragedy.
