Hanging out during the day to catch sparklers on the waterfront as you enjoy the holiday festivities which feature numerous family-friendly activities, food, drinks and lots of fun as well as a free concert! And of course, after the sun goes down, you’ll be entranced by the spectacular display of fireworks that light up the evening sky over the water in a stunning array of beautiful patriotic colors. Everyone is encouraged to bring blankets or beach chairs for your comfort. Washington, DC has a fireworks display that is unlike any other in the United States! The show, which is administered by the National Park Service, illuminates absolutely everything from the Washington Monument, to the Lincoln Memorial as well as the Thomas Jefferson Memorial! Spectators should arrive early and can gain access to the National Mall through secure access points. The show lasts roughly 17 minutes and will be accompanied by live music, afterwards head over to U Street as you continue to enjoy the night in celebration of our Country! There are numerous bars, restaurants and nightlife to enjoy up and down the street and plenty of hotels nearby within walking distance.
