Miley Cyrus is enjoying the single life.
The 20-year-old star has finally opened up about her split from fiancé Liam Hemsworth during an appearance on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” airing Friday.
Cyrus has dodged dishing details on breaking off her engagement with the handsome “Hunger Games” star for weeks while on a press tour for her latest album “Bangerz” –– until now.
“So the last time you were here I threw you an engagement party,” the daytime host said to Cyrus as she showed a clip of her last appearance in Nov. 2012 with strippers dancing for her.
“Do you want your money back?” Cyrus joked.
“I want my money back. I sent like you know (showing the strippers again) you enjoyed it,” DeGeneres said.
“I should of kept one of those dudes’ numbers,” Cyrus quipped.
DeGeneres then asked the pop star if its been uncomfortable getting all the media attention surrounding the break up.
“It’s not really as awkward because I’m living it,” she continued.
“So I think people spend more time actually thinking about it then I really do. I just believe when a chapter is done you have to close it and start that new one. That’s kind of where I am right now. I felt like I have so much to be thankful for at this time that my energy hasn’t really been focused on that.”
The “We Can’t Stop” singer goes on to say she doesn’t want her personal life to overshadow her music, but admits her new record has a lot to do with her relationship with Hemsworth.
“The whole album is a story of that,” she said.
“I think it says that with starting with “Adore You” and ending with “Someone Else” is I feel like you can really find like this arch of like growth and I didn’t even know as much of… until I really listened to it now that it’s done and I have like my physical copy and I put it in my car. I’m like this is really like telling a story. I think I knew more intuitively where my life was going then I actually thought I did at the time.”
As for if the two, who met on the set of “The Last Song” and dated for four years, still communicate, Cyrus said, “You know for me I really haven’t gotten to see anyone right now. ‘Cause I’ve been so crazy busy. I’m just letting that chapter kind of close and just looking forward to that new one.”
“I want to be really clear and determined with everything I’m doing in my life right now and I have been… I keep saying I’m the happiest I’ve ever been and that’s not even a dig. That’s just me because I really am genuinely happy finally with myself which I think sometimes it takes you separating yourself from someone else to really be happy with who you are. I’ve never been able to just be alone and I’m obsessed with being alone and like hearing my thoughts.”
The couple announced they were officially over in mid-September.
