The Torch has been passed.
Fox has tapped a super team of young actors to be bombarded with cosmic rays for the upcoming “Fantastic Four” reboot.
Actors Miles Teller (the body-stretching Mr. Fantastic), Kate Mara (the aptly named Invisible Woman), Michael B. Jordan (the Human Torch) and Jamie Bell (the super strong rock pile known as The Thing) have closed deals or are circling the parts for the latest movie adaptation of Marvel’s famous superhero team, Variety reported.
A source close to production, however, told the Daily News that the fabulous foursome are not yet officially attached. Jordan and Mara later confirmed their casting on their Twitter feeds.
The movie would reunite Jordan, who takes over the role from go-to superhero Chris Evans, with director Josh Trank, who directed the actor in the 2012 super hero flick, “Chronicle.”
Despite the griping, the new cast could succeed in bringing a little 21st Century cool to a comic book series created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in 1961. The Fantastic Four haven’t had the same big-screen cachet as some of the publisher’s other heroes – including Spider-Man (Sony), Iron Man, Thor and Captain America (Disney) and Fox’s other superhero franchise, The X-Men.
“FLAME ON!!” the 27-year-old actor captioned an Instagram photo, which zoomed in on the “4″ on The Human Torch costume.
