Congrats to Meek Mill for landing his first #1 album on the Billboard charts with “Dreams Worth More Than Money”!
Congrats are in order for Meek Mill, who this week charts his first number one album. The rapper’s sophomore full length, Dreams Worth More Than Money, has debuted atop the Billboard 200 today, moving a very impressive 246,000 equivalent units (combining sales and streams). Almost a quarter of a million copies is really a solid number for today’s record industry.
Meek Mill only has one other solo album—2012’s Dreams and Nightmares—which made it all the way to the runner up slot. With his labelmates on Maybach Music Group, Mill has charted three other top ten albums, all of which were part of the Self Made series.
Coming in second place this week is R&B crooner Miguel’s third album, Wildheart. It’s his highest charting position yet, and it follows the singer’s critically-acclaimed Kaleidoscope Dream, which featured the song “Adorn”, a fan favorite and one of the better-written R&B tracks of the past few years.
Congrats to these two hard-working musicians. Its nice to see a hip hop and R&B album topping the Billboard charts. Reminds us that there are still chart-topping artist within hip hop & R&B.
