President Donald Trump hosted the Prime Minister of Ireland as the nation’s guest at the White House on St. Patrick’s Day, and while reflecting on the significance of the holiday, the Irish PM made a couple of remarks that seemingly took aim at Trump’s stance against immigrants and refugees in America.
“It’s fitting that we gather here each year to celebrate St. Patrick and his legacy,” Prime Minister Enda Kenny said. “He, too, was an immigrant. And even though he is, of course, the patron saint of Ireland, for many people around the globe, he is also the symbol of — indeed, the patron of — immigrants.”
Trump stood by Kenny the entire time he made his speech looking emotionless, but it was clear that Kenny was addressing him during his passionate speech.
