As “Empire” fans prepare for next week’s season premier the cast is sitting down for interview’s to discuss the highly-anticipated upcoming season.
The Hollywood Reporter tapped the cast for its latest cover story titled “Empire On Fire,” in which the show’s director, Lee Daniels, spoke about the show’s leading stars Taraji P. Henson and Terrence Howard.
Daniels stood in defense of his friend Howard when asked about his past altercations with domestic violence.
“That poor boy. [Terrence] ain’t done nothing different than Marlon Brando or Sean Penn, and all of a sudden he’s some f***in’ demon,” Daniels said. “That’s a sign of the time, of race, of where we are right now in America.”
Of Henson, Daniels said: “Taraji was what I call ‘Project Royalty’ because in the projects, honey, she is royalty. She was Meryl Streep in the streets; it just took a moment for white America to catch on.”
Shout out to Lee for telling it like it is!
