The British TV channel Sky Arts recently decided to pull the controversial “Urban Myths” episode featuring white actor Joseph Fiennes as Michael Jackson.
The 30-minute comedy, titled “Elizabeth, Michael & Marlon,” centered around a road trip that the late Michael Jackson was alleged to have taken with Elizabeth Taylor (Stockard Channing) and Marlon Brando (Brian Cox) after the September 11, 2001 terror attacks.
Shortly after the trailer was released, Michael’s eldest daughter Paris Jakcson took to Twitter to express her upset with the “shameful portrayal” of her late father and Godmother, Liz Taylor.
Sky Arts has since pulled the episode and wrote on Twitter that it made the move “in light of the concerns expressed by Michael Jackson’s immediate family.”
Fiennes supported the decision, Sky Arts said. The “Urban Myths” series premieres Jan. 19.
“We set out to take a light-hearted look at reportedly true events & never intended to cause any offence,” Sky Arts wrote.
Now back to letting the King sleep in peace!
