The only female late-night talk show host, Chelsea Handler, is bowing out from the late night tv scene once her contract ends later this year.
The sh*t talking, middle age-ish dirty blonde who filled tabloids with her loud mouth, and raunchy antics is bidding us all farewell…..for now.
Chelsea Handler will wrap up her popular E! talk show Chelsea Lately and leave the network when her contract expires at the end of the year, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
THR quotes Handler’s manager, Irving Azoff, who says: “Chelsea intends to leave when her contract expires. She hired me to figure out her life after E! We have at least seven suitors and many ideas.”
Among those ideas are a radio “presence” and a new talk show on a different network.
Handler, 39, has made no secret about her and E! not being on the same page. On March 5, she went on Howard Stern‘s radio show and called E! “a sad, sad place to live … They don’t know what they’re doing. They have no ideas. It’s a failure.”
Earlier this month, Handler told USA TODAY that she might be ready to move on from Chelsea Lately, which has been on E! for eight years. “I don’t know if I want to be talking about Justin Bieber when I’m 40,” she said.
But Handler, the only female late-night host on TV, also indicated that she wouldn’t mind doing another talk show — as long as it’s on her terms. “I don’t want to be on a regular network. If I do a show, I want to get away with what I get away with. I use language because that’s how I am in real life.”
Handler’s new book, Uganda Be Killing Me, released on March 4, is currently No. 40 on USA TODAY’s Best-Selling Books list. It peaked at No. 9 on March 13.
