BET Brings Back Comic View: Auditions Tapes Being Accepted

The legendary BET show for comedians is back!!! Comic View is making a comeback on BET and Kevin Hart is the host!!!

Like most comedic actors, Kevin got his start doing stand-up, so it was only right that he hosted Comic View: One Mic Stand and gave rising comedic talent a chance.

BET’s ComicView is a staple in stand-up comedy. From 1992 to 2008, it launched the careers of Cedric The Entertainer, DL Hughley, Rodney Perry, countless others and even had hosts Kevin Hart, Sheryl Underwood, Bruce Bruce, Gary Owen and more!

Now ComicView is back, and talent scouts are scouring comics all over the nation. Houston’s Improv Comedy Club will be holding auditions for two days, June 3rd and 4th. The following is the official BET announcement and information for any rising comics who are interested in auditioning to be on the show:

     WHAT:         BET's top-rated show COMIC VIEW is gearing up for another
                   blockbuster season and the signature series is looking for
                   fresh new comics to feature in its next installment.  As a
                   network mainstay, the show has broken ground as the longest
                   running stand-up comedy show providing a nationwide platform
                   for Black entertainers and during its tenure has launched
                   the careers of some of the comedy circuit's top names.
                   COMIC VIEW is looking to add new names to its growing roster
                   of alumni as the show ramps up for its 13th side-splitting
                   season.

     WHO:          Audition tapes are being accepted from professional stand-up
                   comics.

     HOW:          Comics must submit non-returnable audition tapes by August
                   7, 2004 to BET in VHS format only. Tapes need not be
                   professionally produced, but must consist of a stand-up
                   comedy performance and/or performances by the entrant before
                   a live audience and must appeal to an urban audience of
                   viewers 18-49.  One entry per comedian is permitted.  Tapes
                   should be at least 10 minutes in length.  Audition tapes
                   should be sent postage-paid, and must include accurate
                   contact information for follow-up, if necessary.  BET does
                   not assume any responsibility for lost, late, misdirected or
                   damaged videotapes.  Tapes will not be returned and become
                   property of Black Entertainment Television.
