For punishing his 4-year-old son in a way that many outsiders are calling “child abuse”, Minnesota Vikings player Adrian Peterson has been placed on the NFL’s exempt list.
During a CNN segment on the accusations of child abuse against Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson Tuesday evening, Don Lemon was careful not to defend the NFL star’s actions. But he did use his own personal experience with corporal punishment to explain why, for many people, what Peterson allegedly did to his children is not seen as problematic.
“I have to say that when I was a kid, I would have to go and get the switch off the tree,” Lemon recounted. “And if I brought back a switch that wasn’t big enough, then my grandmother or my dad or my mom would go get a bigger one.”
